Ambode is running a rogue government - Tope Fasua

The smart boys in Lagos heard that they can make money from jerking up the rates on car registration.

Then they went for the jugular. Now you are increasing the rates 100 times over without looking at the optics.

If Ambode carries on with this he will see serious backlash.

Why?

1. This kind of program can only be effected with the turn of a govt. Not in the middle of it. That is how you manage the emotions.

2. This kind of increase in taxes can only be done on a quid pro quo basis. What are you giving the people? What have you done for them lately?

3. This kind of increase can only happen when you lead by example. Now you want to collect 70,000 from buses and 40,000 from normal cars. Ok, have you shown frugality since you came into govt? No

4. This kind of increase can only fly when you have operated on a clean slate. Just this morning we read in the newspapers how Folly Coker and how wife allegedly cleaned out THIS SAME AGENCY (motor vehicle plates etc) of N3bn.

Then what happened to that other geezer who headed LIRS who cleaned out the place of N500million?

What about that director who was busted and had 136 houses all over Lagos? Lagos is actually the centre and origin of corruption and fraud now it seems these boys are tripping.

It is not good enough to borrow to the hilt, do deals upon deals to cripple the state then set hopelessly high revenue targets to cover your thieving tracks and then saddle the people to pay.

We know how brutal these Lagos government people can be anyway, but they have overreached themselves this time.

In my view, this kind of charges - which I have proposed before - has to have a national consensus (even though states may have jurisdiction), must be properly sold, and can only be effected by those who come to equity with clean hands.

Even Buhari cannot try this.

President Buhari urges Nigerians to make right choices by reelecting him

Oredola Adeola | President Muhammadu Buhari in televised broadcast  on Thursday  prior to the Saturday February 16, 2019 Presidential election has urged Nigerians to allow his administration continue with the infrastructural and economic growth that the country has enjoyed under his government. According to him the choice that now confronts Nigerians is whether they want to continue with real infrastructure development, which is the road to prosperity and jobs or return to the era of ‘stomach infrastructure’. The statement reads in part: On Saturday, February 16, 2019, you will, once again, be called upon to choose the leaders who will pilot the affairs of our great nation for the next four years. This is a constitutional right which should be freely exercised by all eligible voters. 2.
