Benue killings: Pastor Adeboye, wife pay condolence visit to people of Benue state

OREDOLA ADEOLA

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God was in Benue State on Friday to sympathise with the people of the state over recent attacks by the Fulani herdsmen.

He arrived in company of his wife, Pastor (Mrs) Folu Adeboye, to the state capital, Makurdi and were received by Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state.

Addressing people at the state house, Pastor Adeboye disclosed that his visit to the state was delayed because God had earlier warned him not to go ahead of  President Muhammadu Buhari's visit to the state.

He confirmed that his visit was approved by President Buhari through the office of the Chief of Defence Staff.

He and his wife sympathised and prayed for the state and families of victims who were killed during the attack .

The RCCG General Overseer noted that he is not a politician and was not in the state to make any political statement.

He revealed that his visit was primarily to mourn and pray for sons and daughters of God, who were victims and affected by the attacks.

He said, “ No true man of God can see the mass burials that followed the attack and not feel the pain.

"Most of the people buried are church members and others are souls that could have been won for Christ because you can't convert a dead person.

“ I waited this long because the Lord told him until the president visits he can't go ahead of him. The politicians have done their own but it's now time for family matters.

“The strong prepares for the day of battle but safety is of the Lord. God can turn all of these crisis around, “ he charged them.

He however reaffirmed the commitment of his family and the entire RCCG to support and pray for e government and people of Benue state.

Governor Ortom while reacting to the remark of Pastor Adeboye, disclosed that he has been looking forward to the visit of the man of God.

He noted that the government of Benue is managing over 2000 internally displaced people.

He however solicited prayers and support of the church towards the plight of the people of the state.
