Expansion of Oshodi-Abule-Egba-Toll Gate/Sango road to begin soon, as FG okays N56.701bn for the project

Mr   Babatunde Fashola, Minister for Works, Power and Housing  has got approval of the Federal Executive Council on the revised contract for the construction of the Lagos -Ota -Abeokuta Expressway costing N56.701bn.

Mr. Fashola disclosed this to the newsmen shortly after the meeting of the council presided over by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo at the Presidential Villa , Abuja.

According to him, the 81km road was first awarded in 2000 but was left uncompleted and thr Buhari’s administration is trying to move the contractor to site, with the revision of the rate.

“ So, the revised rate was brought to council today and a revision of N22 bn was approved for the 81-kilometre road, bringing the total contract price to N 56.701 bn. ”

It would be recalled that road construction was awarded to Julius Berger, as a Trunk ‘A’ Federal Road. The road serves as a major economic and trade route between Lagos and Ogun states and the entire South-West.

There is an ongoing construction of  Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) lane project and pedestrian bridges on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, which were being carried out by the Lagos State Government.

2019 Hajj: Six Nigerian pilgrims die in Saudi Arabia

A middle aged woman, pilgrim from Lagos State, slumped and died in the early hours of Sunday morning in Mecca during the devil stoning ritual at Jamarat Aqaba, outside Mina, thereby bringing the number of Nigerian pilgrims that have died in this year’s Hajj in Saudi Arabia to six(6). The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria confirmed the death of the Nigerian pilgrims in Saudi Arabia .
