Nigerians in UK protest against President Buhari at Abuja house, London

A group of Nigerians resident in the UK staged a protest against President Muhammadu Buhari. at the Abuja House official residence of the Nigerian president in London, in reaction to his intention to contest for another term in office as president of Nigeria in 2019.

Further revelation shows that the protesters were determined to embarrass and humiliate the President throughout his stay in the UK., as there is a grand plan by the protesters to demonstrate at the venue of CHOGM holding later in the month in Britain, which President Buhari is scheduled to attend as a Commonwealth Head of State.

Recall that President Buhari travelled to London on Monday after attending the National Executive Council, NEC, meeting of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Abuja, where he declare intention to seek reelection in 2019.

Shehu Garba, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, disclosed that the President will not be distracted from his mission in the UK, despite the protest.

The Presidency disclosed that the protesters were sponsored by Nigerians suspected to be among those that wrecked havoc on the nation`s economy.

According to the presidency sources, the protesters were said to be a rented motely crowd of professionals protesting against the President on his arrival into the United Kingdom.

An Aso Villa source who spoke on the matter last night said, “they are extremely corrupt Nigerians who are custodians of slush funds stolen from Nigeria, and hiding in UK or are resident cronies of such elements.

“Esteemed Nigerians home and abroad, friends and business investors in Nigeria, should please see through the veil of the motive behind the Abuja House, Kensington London demonstration.

It was an orchestrated act of desperation and a ploy to blackmail and hoodwink the President from concentrating on his anti corruption campaign , which is fast gaining grounds locally and internationally.

"This unpatriotic act is not unconnected to the Federal government policies to name and shame corrupt citizens and looters; to collate database of Nigerians with homes in UK who are not paying the right taxes, and the hot drive to prosecute all financial defaulters through bilateral and multilateral means, " the Presidency source alleged.

2019 Hajj: Six Nigerian pilgrims die in Saudi Arabia

A middle aged woman, pilgrim from Lagos State, slumped and died in the early hours of Sunday morning in Mecca during the devil stoning ritual at Jamarat Aqaba, outside Mina, thereby bringing the number of Nigerian pilgrims that have died in this year’s Hajj in Saudi Arabia to six(6). Ajaokuta Steel plant up for sale again!

Oredola Adeola| The Federal Government through its ongoing privatisation programme has put Ajaokuta Steel Company up for sale. This was confirmed by Godwin Emefiele, Central Bank of Nigeria, Governor while briefing the Nigerian delegation at the end of the International Monetary Fund/ World Bank Group meetings in Bali, Indonesia on Sunday. The CBN Governor disclosed that the privatisation programme is coordinated by the National Council on Privatisation, while the Bureau of Public Enterprise (BPE) will be conducting a total review of the process of privatisation and payment for the steel industry to pave way for investors. He further stated that some of the country’s assets have been up for sale, under the ongoing privatisation programme, with the aim of raising more funds to finance the 2018 deficit-based budget.
