Despite disruption by rainstorm, Ekiti APC gubernatorial primary election continues

Despite heavy rainstorm that earlier disrupted the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship primaries at the Oluyemi Kayode stadium, Ado Ekiti, Ekiti on Saturday, the accreditation and voting process has resumed.

EkitiAPC delegates from 16 Local Government as at the time of filing this report have all been accredited and are ready to elect their choice candidates.

Earlier, the Chairman of Election Committee, Governor Umaru Tanko Almakura, commended all the 33 aspirants and delegates for the rancour free exercise, describing them as patriotic members of the party.

He also commended the security for the good work they were doing securing the venue and ensuring order outside.

According to him, despite the hitches and disruption by rainstorm, more time would be given to allow all delegates to be accredited and vote for their candidates.

Gov. Almakura further promised to ensure that all processes of the primary election were transparent, credible, and acceptable to all.

Calls in some quarters for the postponement of the process due to the rainstorm did not yield result , as the electoral body has arranged ballot boxes on each voting points for election proper.

2019 Hajj: Six Nigerian pilgrims die in Saudi Arabia

A middle aged woman, pilgrim from Lagos State, slumped and died in the early hours of Sunday morning in Mecca during the devil stoning ritual at Jamarat Aqaba, outside Mina, thereby bringing the number of Nigerian pilgrims that have died in this year’s Hajj in Saudi Arabia to six(6). The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria confirmed the death of the Nigerian pilgrims in Saudi Arabia .
