The Saturday Ekiti APC Gubernatorial primary election has been disrupted, by thugs allegedly sponsored by one of the aspirants.

There were sporadic gunshots from hired thugs who also snatched ballot boxes and destroyed delegates' votes.

Governor Umaru Tanko Al-makura, of Nassarawa State , who is also the Chairman electoral committee, had an emergency meeting with the commissioner of police, as security operatives made efforts to arrest some of the miscreants.

32 other aspirants formed an alliance against former Governor Kayode Fayemi, as chorus of " We don't want Fayemi again in Ekiti" took over the stadium

However election process has been put on hold while Gov. Al-makura prepares to address a press conference.

There are indications that the total exercise may be declared inconclusive due to breakdown and disruption by the sponsored thugs.

The official groundbreaking ceremony for the project is scheduled for Friday, August 23, and will be led by Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun. The Contractor , Craneburg Construction Company Ltd, began mobilizing its equipment to the site about 10 days ago, initiating palliative measures on one side of the road to ensure it remains passable while full-scale reconstruction commences on the opposite side.
