We spent N100m not N1bn on Senator Melaye’s failed recall - INEC Chairman

The Independent National Electoral Commission has revealed that only N100m was spent on the failed recall exercise of Kogi- West lawmaker, Senator Dino Melaye.

This was disclosed in a press conference by Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, INEC Chairman in Abuja on Friday.

According to him, the N1bn being bandied by the Peoples Democratic Party( PDP) as the amount spent on the recall is not true.

He further revealed that the recall exercise was conducted like normal Senatorial election, adding that Kogi -West which Melaye represents, has 552 polling units and seven local governments.

He revealed that ad hoc staff were deployed in all the polling units .

2019 Hajj: Six Nigerian pilgrims die in Saudi Arabia

A middle aged woman, pilgrim from Lagos State, slumped and died in the early hours of Sunday morning in Mecca during the devil stoning ritual at Jamarat Aqaba, outside Mina, thereby bringing the number of Nigerian pilgrims that have died in this year’s Hajj in Saudi Arabia to six(6). The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria confirmed the death of the Nigerian pilgrims in Saudi Arabia . Dr Ibrahim Kana , Chairman, National Medical Team, released the figure in Madinah from the commission ’s National Medical Team Electronic Health Medical Records. 6 more Abidjan returnees confirmed positive for Corona virus

Oredola Adeola Six(6) more Ivory Coast returnees to Ejigbo, a town in Osun State have tested positive for coronavirus, bringing the total number of cases in the state to 20 . Osun State, Commissioner for Health , Dr Rafiu Isamotu has confirmed to pressmen that all the 127 returnees had been tested and 18 of them had returned positive.
