… swears in Alh Balogun( Lagos), Amacharee(Rivers) , 35 other party Chairmen
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress(APC) has placed embargo on inauguration of other party executives in Lagos, Rivers, Oyo, Delta and Taraba states. This according to the party leadership was meant to allow for harmonisation and reconciliation of parallel Congresses held in the states.
The Party leadership made this known at the formal swearing-in ceremony of the newly-elected Chairmen of the various state chapters of the APC on Monday, by Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, the outgoing National Chairman, the party’s National Secretariat, in Abuja.
In his statement Chief Odigie-Oyegun said, “There is a serious need for quick reconciliation especially in Rivers, Taraba, Oyo, Delta, Lagos and others.
“Let the chairmen here wait and should not inaugurate their excos like the others until the issues with the congresses in such states are resolved.
“I’m going to set up a committee headed by the Deputy National Chairman, (North) to study the situations in such states for possible actions. There will be concessions and harmonisation after the exercise within this week,” The APC Chairman cautioned.
Corroborating the Chairman’s statement Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, APC National Publicity Secretary said, “The case of Lagos is clearly a constitutional matter. We have set up a panel to consider the report of the congresses held there.
"Of course, we overruled those who conducted their congress in 57 local government areas, because the constitution only recognises 20 local governments.”
He further revealed that the NWC was not opposed to seeking for political solutions to some of the issues not only in Lagos but in other states where the “so-called” parallel congresses were conducted.
Meanwhile, during the swearing in ceremony of the state Chairmen, Alhaji Tunde Balogun , the concensus Chairman that emerged in the congress that held at the state secretariat in ACME, Lagos, was among those Chairmen that were sworn in.
Others are Chief Derin Adebisi (Ogun); Ojukaye Amacheree (Rivers); Godwin Etim John (Cross River); Dr. Ben Nwoye (Enugu), Jothan L. Amos (Bayelsa); Dr. Hillary Eke (Imo); Abdullahi Abass (Kano); Nitte K. Amangal (Gombe); Abdullahi Bello (Kogi); Ade Adetimehin (Ondo); and Cyril Ogodo ( Delta).
