Lagos APC group asks party's national leadership to ratify suspension of Banire

Some concerned members of Lagos State  All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday  staged a protest at the party’s state secretariat in ACME, Ikeja, demanding ratification of the suspension of Dr. Muiz Banire, party’s National Legal Adviser, an action that was carried out in July last year, over allegation of his involvement in anti-party activities.

The group urged the party's National Working Committee to  ratify the suspension of Muiz-Banire, which they claimed had emboldened him against the party leadership in the state.

The  group in a letter signed by the Legal Adviser of APC in Mushin, Mr. Femi Martins, and addressed to APC National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, bemoaned the refusal of the national leadership to ratify Banire’s suspension, adding that the delay has given Banire courage to see himself as untouchable.

The group said, “recalcitrant and political rascality undermines the democratic process and parties at all levels must continue to strive to ensure decorum from its members.

“We, therefore, demand that the national leadership of the party act in furtherance of the suspension at the local level by completing the process to serve as a deterrent to other dissidents alike.”

Reacting to the allegation and petition, Dr. Banire said, “My attention has just been drawn to the gathering of some jobless, lazy and hired charlatans in Mushin Local Government Area, who are being sponsored to stage the 2018 edition of what could now be described as their annual protest against Banire after their failed maiden edition in 2017.

“Tenure has finished already; it is a needless call. That shows the quality of people who are motor terminus touts put together by a nonentity in government. They do not even know anything going on in the party,” APC National Legal Adviser said.

By Chukwudi Iwuchukwu   To those who do not understand why I called the wife of the new king of England, King Charles, “Side Chick”, let me share their beautiful love story.   The course of true love never runs smooth, and that was certainly the case for the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall. It took years for the British public to accept Camilla as Charles’ new girlfriend and then wife in 2005, following the death of Diana, Princess of Wales. But over the decades, fans have warmed to the Duchess and credit her with supporting the future king and becoming his rock.     As Charles and Camilla celebrated their 17th wedding anniversary last weekend, let’s take a look at their enduring love story, which started in the seventies…   A chance meeting at a polo match in 1970 marked the beginning of Camilla Shand’s relationship with Prince Charles. The two – both aged 23 – began dating, but their romance cooled when the future King was called away on nav...
