Tragedy was on Thursday averted as chopper conveying Vice-President Yemi Osibanjo, from an event which was held at the Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College, Gwagwalada in Abuja, had emergency landing , few seconds after take off from the venue.
Report shows that the chopper which had earlier taken the Vice President to the college for the ceremony, on departure from the venue after the event emitted thick smoke after ascending 70ft above ground level and immediately landed on the same spot.
The Vice President, following the incident left the college by road.
Meanwhile, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen Tukur Buratai and Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Sadique Abubakar, who were also at the event had left the venue before the incident occured.
