The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has charged all its members to boycott the courts nationwide for two days (Tuesday 29 and Wednesday 30 January 2019) in protest against what it tagged as "constitutional infractions in the suspension of Walter Onnoghen as Chief Justice of Nigeria".
This was the decision of the NBA at an emergency meeting of its NEC held at the NBA Auditorium, NBA House, Plot 1101 Muhammadu Buhari Way, Cadastral Zone A00 Central Area, Abuja on Monday.
The emergency meeting was attended by statutory NEC members of NBA, comprising, all the national officers, past presidents, past general secretaries, branch chairmen, branch secretaries, branch NEC representatives and chairmen and secretaries of sections.
The NBA through the boycott plans to register it dissatisfaction with the decision of President Muhammadu Buhari to suspend Justice Onnoghen as the CJN on Friday and swore in Tanko Mohammed in acting capacity.
