Police arrest man for stealing pant in Onitsha


The Anambra State Police Command has paraded one Chinonye Okorie, ( 19), living at Ogbaku in Mbaitolu LGA of Imo State for allegedly stealing a female pant washed and spread on a rope at No. 21 Umuna Street Odoakpu, Onitsha.

This was contained in a statement released by SP Haruna Mohammed , Police Public Relation Officer of Anambra State Police Command.



According to the statement, the suspect carried out the act with the intention of selling it to yet to be identified persons at the rate of Eighty thousand Naira (#80,000) for alleged ritual purpose.   

The statement said, "On the January 11, 2019 at about 6:48am, Police detectives attached to Central Police Station (CPS) Onitsha arrested.

" Meanwhile, the pant was recovered from the suspect as exhibit and effort is being intensified to apprehend other fleeing accomplices in order to bring them to Justice," the statement said.

The Command however urged the general public to be vigilant and report to the nearest Police Station any suspicious person or persons roaming around their vicinity for prompt action in order to avert this new trend of crime in the Society.

Ogun State Governor to conduct groundbreaking for reconstruction of Lagos Toll-Gate-Sango-Abeokuta expressway on Friday Aug 23

The official groundbreaking ceremony for the project is scheduled for Friday, August 23, and will be led by Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun. The Contractor , Craneburg Construction Company Ltd, began mobilizing its equipment to the site about 10 days ago, initiating palliative measures on one side of the road to ensure it remains passable while full-scale reconstruction commences on the opposite side.
