Police arrest six men who inserted pepper in girl’s private part over alleged stolen phone

Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have arrested six male suspects behind the torture and insertion of pepper into a girl’s private part in Benin City over alleged stealing of a mobile phone.

Recall that the video trending on the social media showed the girl being stripped naked by a group of people, who inserted pepper into her private parts for allegedly stealing a phone.

The 24 year-old lady who was later identified by the Police was heard crying and saying in the video that she didn’t steal any phone, while she was being humiliated by the crowd.

However in a statement released after the arrest of the men, ACP Frank Mba, force Public Relations officer, disclosed that shortly after the dehumanizing incident, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu had ordered a comprehensive investigation into the report.

The statement said, “ The Edo State Police Command, led by its Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu swung into action, leading to the investigative breakthrough. Two other male suspects are still at large. Efforts are being intensified to arrest them and bring all involved to justice.

“The Nigeria Police Force condemns jungle justice in its entirety and warns of dire consequences for persons who resort to criminal acts of self-help.

“The six male suspects arrested are: (1) Otoghile Joel (owner of the phone alleged to have been stolen by the young woman) (2) Lucky Igbinovia (alias "One Man Squad" in whose house the young woman was tortured) (3) Edobor Osemwengie (manager of Lafun Hotel) (4) Kingsley Iyamu (5) Gregg Eweka (6) Friday Omorogbe.

Mr Mba however revealed that the police have established contact with the female victim, confirming that her health status and recovery rate are being monitored. Meanwhile the Edo State CP was asked to provide more details as the investigation progresses.

Ajaokuta Steel plant up for sale again!

This was confirmed by Godwin Emefiele, Central Bank of Nigeria, Governor while briefing the Nigerian delegation at the end of the International Monetary Fund/ World Bank Group meetings in Bali, Indonesia on Sunday. The CBN Governor disclosed that the privatisation programme is coordinated by the National Council on Privatisation, while the Bureau of Public Enterprise (BPE) will be conducting a total review of the process of privatisation and payment for the steel industry to pave way for investors. 2019 Hajj: Six Nigerian pilgrims die in Saudi Arabia

A middle aged woman, pilgrim from Lagos State, slumped and died in the early hours of Sunday morning in Mecca during the devil stoning ritual at Jamarat Aqaba, outside Mina, thereby bringing the number of Nigerian pilgrims that have died in this year’s Hajj in Saudi Arabia to six(6).
