Senator Akinyelure “Allover” defeats Mimiko, Alasoadura, wins Ondo Central Senatorial seat

Senator Ayo Akinyelure, candidate of the  Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has emerged  winner of the Ondo Central Senatorial District election held on Saturday , February 23.

Akinyelure, popularly known as 'Allover' polled 66, 978 votes to defeat the incumbent, Ayo Alasoadure, of the All Progressives Congress(APC) who garnered 57,828 votes and former Ondo Governor, Olusegun Mimiko of the Zenith Labour Party(ZLP) who also polled 56,624 votes.

The Businessman turned Politician  was first elected to the Senate under Labour Party in 2011, when he defeated Gbenga Ogunniya of the PDP. He served a single term and was defeated by Senator Alasoadura in 2015 general election.

The Idanre-born Senator however defected from the LP, to PDP and later to APC, had recently returned to PDP under which he contested for the Senatorial seat.

Mr Akinyelure had earlier vowed that he would win the election if it is conducted under a free and fair contest.

2019 Hajj: Six Nigerian pilgrims die in Saudi Arabia

A middle aged woman, pilgrim from Lagos State, slumped and died in the early hours of Sunday morning in Mecca during the devil stoning ritual at Jamarat Aqaba, outside Mina, thereby bringing the number of Nigerian pilgrims that have died in this year’s Hajj in Saudi Arabia to six(6). The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria confirmed the death of the Nigerian pilgrims in Saudi Arabia . Dr Ibrahim Kana , Chairman, National Medical Team, released the figure in Madinah from the commission ’s National Medical Team Electronic Health Medical Records. 6 more Abidjan returnees confirmed positive for Corona virus

Oredola Adeola Six(6) more Ivory Coast returnees to Ejigbo, a town in Osun State have tested positive for coronavirus, bringing the total number of cases in the state to 20 . Osun State, Commissioner for Health , Dr Rafiu Isamotu has confirmed to pressmen that all the 127 returnees had been tested and 18 of them had returned positive. Ealier, TheEditorialsng reported that Twelve(12) out of 127 Osun State returnees from Cote D'Ivoire heading to Ejigbo, a town in the state, have tested positive to the Corona virus . With the new development the number of positive cases in Osun has increased and have since been kept in the quarantine, while others who are in isolation are being tested.
