The Ogun state Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun and the Alake and Paramount ruler of Egba land, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, have unveiled the Lisabi Agbongbo Akala statue, at the Adatan roundabout, Abeokuta, on Saturday in commemoration of the 33rd Lisabi day festival.
Recall that Lisabi played a very prominent role in the liberation of the Egbas from Oyo Kingdom when he led a war that defeated enemies of the Egbas. Record shows that Lisabi and his followers were scattered all over communities and villages, which now formed Egbaland about 60 years after his death.
During the unveiling, the Alake, likened Governor Amosun, an Egba son, to the modern day Lisabi, for his unparalleled achievements of liberating Ogun state economically, just as Lisabi liberated the Egba kingdom from the hegemony of the Oyo Kingdom.
