Olumuyiwa Olumilua, Wale Ojo-Lanre ready to join hikers on Ekiti Mountain this Easter Monday

The Ekiti State Commissioner for Information, Tourism and Value Orientation, Mr Olumuyiwa Olumilua, and the Director General, Ekiti State Centre for Arts & Culture, Mr Wale Ojo-Lanre are set to join other top dignitaries during the maiden edition of the Ekiti Mountain Hike scheduled to hold on Easter Monday.

The Commissioner who received the promoter of the Mountain event in his office, lauded the organizer for evolving a bright idea aimed at showcasing iconic geographical potential of Ekiti State for global embrace.

According to Mr. Olumilua, Governor Fayemi’s administration is not only poised to encourage the incubation of bright and productive ideas but ready and willing to support brain works that are capable of adding value of substance to the state, its economy and the people.

He said, “ The Ekiti State government has special interest in enhancing and sharpening ideas and one which would do everything humanly possible to encourage the positive aspirations of the youths


“I am enamoured by the zeal at which you are projecting the hills and mountains of Ekiti. I am endeared to this project of yours not only because of the fecundity of your ideas and focus but also because of the positive vibration which you have deplored to brand and sell the iconic geographical blessing of the state for global acceptance. I will not distance myself from your progressive stride but will walk the trail and hike the mountain with you.

Recall that Mr. Wale Ojo-Lanre, the Director General, Ekiti State Centre for Arts & Culture had earlier endorsed the cultural tourism. According to him,  Ekiti Mountain hike is one of the choice destinations for tourists this Easter Monday.

Ojo-Lanre, however noted that the conducive business-thriving atmosphere in Ekiti State, engineered by Governor Kayode Fayemi, and his interest in tourism has rekindled the urge by the indigenes of the state and non–indigenes to harness the tourism potentialities of the state.

Michael Peculiar Ekiran, leader of the group, in reaction to remark of the Commissioner,  said he was impressed by the  proactive stance and enthusiasm of the Ekiti state  government towards the event.

He said, “We are surprised at the enthusiastic manner and positive body language which you have exhibited towards this project.

“We are happy that someone who is not only intelligent but vibrant and receptive to good ideas like you is the Commissioner. This goes to tell the world the calibre and status of people currently paddling the canoe of the state,” he said.

He revealed “Hon Commissioner, we have crossed all the necessary ‘t’s and dotted all the needed ‘I’s. We are also happy that you are going to lead us unto the mountain top on Easter Monday for the great 1st Ekiti Mountain hike. We are grateful.”
