Oredola Adeola |

The management of Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company( IE) will from September billing cycle commence E-Billing (Paperless Billing) across all its network, replacing it with old Paper billing. This was exclusively released to The Editorials by the marketing department of IE.

Now old Paper Bills

According to IE, the transition to E-Billing is a much anticipated move to improve speed of delivery to its customers, improve revenue assurance and ensure smooth invoicing between Ikeja Electric and its Maximum Demand (MD) customers.

IE’s Management Team has approved the deployment of Paperless Billing across the network after its succesful pilot stage which started during the March billing.

Mr Felix Ofulue, Head, IE Corporate Communications, disclosed that the system which will ride on seamless technology, will provide MD customers easier options to receive monthly bills via SMS, E-mail and subsequently, USSD and IE’s website. The move, according to him, which is considered a game changer by industry watchers will impact on turnaround time and improve service delivery to IE’s key market.

He further noted that the move has been extended to all customers, noting that the pilot stage had been successfully tested with most customers already receiving updates on financial transactions via the approved channels.

Ofulue said, “Our intention is to focus on billing transparency and the e-billing helps us achieve this by reducing time lag between bill production and dissemination. This in turn affords customers more time to respond to the bills received.

"Furthermore, it helps us be a more efficient company with improved focus on network infrastructure and service delivery," the IE Communication Head said.

Ofulue disclosed that the idea to move away from paper bills is in line with global green consciousness, adding that the policy embraces International best practices of environmental sustainability already adopted by most MD customer.
