Ogun State Governor vows to deal with landlords who rent properties to kidnappers, criminals

The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun has vowed that his administration will seize, demolish and prosecute property owners across the state who let out their properties to criminally minded individuals who in turn make life unbearable for the people of the state.

He made this known in his office on Monday, while addressing newsmen over the growing spate of insecurity in the state.



The Governor's address is coming against the backdrop of the three kidnapping cases that occurred along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway. He disclosed that the incidents involving 7 victims on the 23rd and 24th of July and 1st of August, along Sagamu-Benin expressway, involving 5 victims, including Deaconess Chidimma Ebeleji of the Redeemed Christian church of God, all within the state, were test of his administration's resolve to ensure that the state is secure for all.

He warned that no part of the state will be a safe haven for criminals and criminality of whatever form, whether on Lagos-Ibadan expressway, Sagamu-Benin-Ore expressway, Abeokuta-Sango-Lagos expressway or even any of the township or interstate roads.

He said, "We shall smoke out, arrest and hand criminals over to the swift hand of justice. My administration would continue to ensure our people go about their legitimate businesses and enterprise in a secured environment.

Governor Abiodun however commended President Muhammadu Buhari and the Inspector General of Police, Muhammed Adamu for their timely intervention and quick deployment of men, resources, and equipment for the release of the recently kidnapped victims.

He affirmed  that the helicopter that was released for surveillance of the area had helped in tracking down the criminals.

Rosatom's TVEL, AllWeld Nuclear, industrial agree to cooperate nuclear backend area
