OPC has in 19 years, brought Osun Osogbo festival to limelight - Iba Gani Adams

The Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams at the 2019 edition of Osun Osogbo Festival,which held on Friday, August 16, 2019, at L'aaro Primary School, Asubiaro, Area, Isale Osun Osogbo, has acknowledged the impact of the Oodua Peoples Congress on the Osun Osogbo festival in nineteen(19) years.

According to him, since 2001,when the Olokun Festival Foundation(OFF) joined the good people of Osogbo to promote the Osun diety, we are indeed proud to have been part of the history that brought Osun Osogbo Festival to the limelight.



Addressing participants at the event, Iba Gani said, "I appreciate the almighty God, the givers of life and the restorer of hope. Olorun Oba Aariro Ala, Oba olowogbogboro tin yo Omo re ninu Ofin Aiye, Alagbara Lori gbogbo Alagbara. Kabi O osi, oranmonise fayati. We extol your name and give you all the glory.

"My appreciation also goes to our royal father and the custodian of our culture, His Royal Majesty, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji Olanipekun,(Laaroye II), the Ataoja of Osogbo land.

He further noted that the Osun Osogbo festival has become a great phenomenon across the world. He admitted the fact that the city of Osogbo, feels like home for him and his global team, thanks to the hospitality of the Ataooja of Osogbo.

He added, " Osogbo has always being a home for us because this is where it all started. So, whatever we do here today will always be a plus to us and to everybody present here today. It is wonderful projecting the culture and tradition of our forebears.

"Whether our critics believe in our struggle to liberate our race or not, we have justified our position by the way we do our very best to keep our flag flying. As we celebrate Osun Osogbo Festival, it isn't that we don't face challenges," the OPC leader said.

He noted that the organisation has faced  lots of challenges, huge enough to discourage members from working hard. He said, "It is worthy to tell others who may not know that the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) is a special organization."

2019 Hajj: Six Nigerian pilgrims die in Saudi Arabia

A middle aged woman, pilgrim from Lagos State, slumped and died in the early hours of Sunday morning in Mecca during the devil stoning ritual at Jamarat Aqaba, outside Mina, thereby bringing the number of Nigerian pilgrims that have died in this year’s Hajj in Saudi Arabia to six(6). The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria confirmed the death of the Nigerian pilgrims in Saudi Arabia . Dr Ibrahim Kana , Chairman, National Medical Team, released the figure in Madinah from the commission ’s National Medical Team Electronic Health Medical Records.
