Fourteen-year-old , Simileoluwa Adesoye, a Biritish born Nigerian girl, who had recently visited Nigeria for the first time since she was born, has written a letter addressed to President Muhammadu Buhari based on her experience during the tour of Mother land .
Her "emotional" letter addressed to President Buhari which sums up diverse crisis facing the country, is her attempt aimed at waking the administration up in its responsibility to the people.
The young girl who is hoping to become a human rights lawyer, revealed that she was not aware that the country's problem would be deeper than what she anticipated.
The letter reads in part :
Dear President Buhari,
My name is Simleoluwa Christine Adesoye. I was born and raised in the United Kingdom. I am 15 years old. My parents have wanted my brother and I to visit Nigeria for some times, because we have never met our grandparents, cousins , uncles and aunties who live in there.
We were so excited to go on this adventure. Yeah, we knew that there would be the good, the bad and the ugly sides of Lagos, but I never imagined the depth of the situation. I saw people in the streets begging for money ( both young and old).
Yeah and obviously, I knew you were going to think , "how is that my problem?"
Well, I think you ought to know that that looks like a big issue to me. You, as the President of my country, are meant to be doing something about that . This is notwithstanding the level of corruption devilling the country.
Do you know how many people doing their legitimate jobs are low-key begging for money? This is actually disgusting.
I am not really proud of calling myself a Nigerian Child, if you won't do anything about it.
How do you derive pleasure in amassing the country's wealth , at the expense of doing basic things for the people of Nigeria?
Na waooo, you people are very wicked and greedy.
I thought you needed to just hear this from me .
Yours sincerely,
Simileoluwa Christine Adesoye
Reacting to Simileoluwa's letter, the mother, Mrs Adesoye, revealed that unlike many parents who would not want their kids to identify or go to Nigeria, she has shown uncommon patriotism by bringing her children down despite the odds.
The mother who had always wanted this visit further disclosed that while she wasn't surprised that the children would experience something different from what they see in Britain, she has managed to show them the beautiful parts of Lagos state by taking them to nice places in Victoria Island and Banana Island.
The mother said that despite the beautiful scenery of these areas , she never envisaged that Simi will go to the extent of writing a letter.
She however charged the Federal Government not to disregard her daughters letter, but should see it as an attempt to show her love for the country.
According to her, the letter from the little girl, shows that she's connected to motherland and would like to see a positive change.
She hopes that the President and other political leaders will address the many challenges in Nigeria to alleviate the people from poverty.
She said, "We want our children to be proud of our country"
