Man stabs Alagbado DPO, two other officers

Oredola Adeola | Adeshina Taiwo, 60 year-old, has attacked , CSP, Yaya Mohammed, Divisional Police Officer attached to Alagbado, in an attempt by the Police to detain him for an undisclosed offence. The Editorials gathered that Mr. Taiwo was arrested and brought to the Police Station for detention and prosecution, but he struggled with the officers insisting that he did not commit any offence that warrant his arrest. When the Police finally dragged him to the station, he allegedly became violent and attacked officers on duty at the Police counter and later hit the DPO, who had reportedly came out from his office to find out the reason for his arrest. Taiwo allegedly descended on the DPO and attacked him with a Shisha bottle causing him several injuries, he was later subdued and detained in the Police custody. The suspect was later charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged assault on the DPO and other officers including two female officers, Kudirat Salawu and Helen Etute, who Mr.Taiwo chased out with iron rod from the Station. When he was arraigned, he pleaded not guilty. The prosecutor, Mr. Akeem Raji, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since Taiwo pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the offence. The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. Jedisola Adeyemi, granted him bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum. He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail conditions. The matter was adjourned till 15th October, 2019.
