Princess (Mrs) Bonike Ashabi Ayedun, has been decorated by His Royal Majesty , Oba Adebisi Segun Layade, Alara Oodaye, of Araland Ile-Ife, as the Erelu Araland Ile-Ife. on Friday, October 4, at Aquarium Event center, Parakin, GRA, Ile-Ife, Osun State.
She however praised the Alara Oodaye of Araland, Ile-Ife for the Chieftaincy title, promising to use the new chieftaincy office to impact lives of women and children of Araland.
Speaking earlier on the just concluded 2019 Olojo Festival in Ile-Ife, Osun State, Erelu Ayedun praised His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, the Ooni of Ife, for using the festival to connect the Yoruba people together as one united tribe.
Erelu Bonike, a London registered nurse manager, who was recently decorated as the Erelu Araland of Ile-Ife, however revealed that efforts of the Oonirisa has become evident in the global outlook of the 2019 edition of the festival that registered the largest attendance of tourists and participants, ever recorded in the history of the festival.
The new Erelu Araland of the source, who is married to Dr Bisikay Ayedun, a Prince from Alli-Iwo compound, Ibadan, Oyo State, described the Olojo festival as a unique festival for Yorubas all over the world. She disclosed that Oba Adeyeye has distinguished himself as a true Arole Oduduwa, for his role in connecting all sons and daughter of Oduduwa to their ancestral source.
Speaking about her new role as the Erelu Araland Ile-Ife, Erelu Ayedun revealed that the plight of women, children and the less privileges would be the focus of her new chieftaincy office.
According to her, " I am committed to using my new chieftancy title to empower the women, children and less privileges in the whole of Ife kingdom. My office would be focused on how to take as many people as possible out of poverty and improve the quality of lives of our people.
" We shall enlighten and train our women on their roles as wives to their husbands and mothers to their children. We shall be restoring the omoluabi ethos and virtues in our women and children. We want to groom women like Moremi Ajasoro. We want our women to be the light of the society.
She however urged the Yoruba people, home and abroad, to rally round the Oonirisa in his efforts to restore the pride of Yoruba race.
