6 more Abidjan returnees confirmed positive for Corona virus

Oredola Adeola Six(6) more Ivory Coast returnees to Ejigbo, a town in Osun State have tested positive for coronavirus, bringing the total number of cases in the state to 20 . Osun State, Commissioner for Health , Dr Rafiu Isamotu has confirmed to pressmen that all the 127 returnees had been tested and 18 of them had returned positive. Ealier, TheEditorialsng reported that Twelve(12) out of 127 Osun State returnees from Cote D'Ivoire heading to Ejigbo, a town in the state, have tested positive to the Corona virus . With the new development the number of positive cases in Osun has increased and have since been kept in the quarantine, while others who are in isolation are being tested. Investigation by our correspondent shows that some of the returnees in isolation had earlier played host to a few relatives under the cover of the night, which further raises the concern that more pesons may have contracted the deadly virus. As at 12:30 pm on 1st April, Osun State now trailed Lagos and FCT , with 14 confirmed cases of Covid-19, bringing numbers to 174 confirmed cases in Nigeria, while nine(9) have been discharged and two (2) were confirmed dead. Lagos State has 82 positive cases while FCT has 28 positive cases. Osun- State now has 14, while Oyo-State has 8 positive cases. Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of Osun State while responding to question via TVC's Journalist Hangout on Tuesday revealed that some indigenes (about 127 people brought in by 17 luxurius buses) of the state were travelling from Abidjan and other neighbouring countries through Ogun State some days ago and were stopped at the border by Ogun State. It was reported that the Ogun State Government contacted his counterpart in Osun in order to monitor their movement. The Governor further disclosed that the returnees were immediately quarantined and subsequently subjected to COVID-19 test.
