#EndSARS riot: Hoodlums break into Lagos Covid-19 palliative warehouse in Mazamasa

Hoodlums and aggrieved  residents  of Festac Town/Mazamaza area of Lagos State have ransacked one of central warehouses managed by the state housing COVID-19 palliatives, handed over to the state government on September 22, 2020 by the Federal  Government.


The Editorials gathered that the foods stored in the warehouse are supposed to be distributed to the poor masses.The hoodlums reportedly ransacked the store and made away with  these palliatives.

Some of the food items include Noodles, Rice, Semovita, Garrison others. 



Reacting to the ransack of the stores the Permanent  Secretary of the Lagos Government Ministry of Agriculture, confirmed that the state's  central warehouses in the mazamaza area of Lagos was ransacked on Thursday.

According  to the statement,"This ransacked warehouse was one of the central packaging and distribution points for palliatives donated by the private sector coalition, CACOVID, for the most disadvantaged across Lagos and Neighboring states. These palliatives were handed over to the state government on September 22, 2020 and have so far been distributed to the most diaadvantaged Lagosians in line with the intervention guidelines until this incident.

"Those items also belong to BUA group of companies and Some other states. Lagos State has been distributing its own. It was less than a month that those palliatives were officially handed to Lagos.

"We had to start doing rebagging and that took us some time. We have given to religious bodies, transporters, artisans, physically challenged people and so on. Even the community that is looting now were given. 



The Ministry disclosed that foods looted belongs to other groups, adding that the process of distribution stopped because of the #EndSARS protest.
