The Ekiti State Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development, Hon. Akin Oyebode to Ikun Diary Farm and Ero Dam on Saturday shared a picture of cattle ranch operated by the Ekiti State Government in partnership with US firm, Promasidor Nigeria Limited, in Ikun-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
He posted, “I’m lactose intolerant but couldn’t resist drinking a glass of fresh milk from Ikun Dairy Farm. We now have 300 Jersey cows, with 6 of them producing 150 litres of milk per day. When that number gets to just 60, that’s 1,500 litres per day. Glad to see the vision coming to pass!
Recall that on July 23, 2019, in Abuja, the Ekiti State by the Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, signed the partnership agreement with the Managing Director of Promasidor Nigeria Limited, Anders Einarsson,
About $5 million investment fund was pulled into Ikun Dairy Farm, to purchase equipment, provide the appropriate herd of cattle, and develop an out-grower scheme for providing feed for the cattle.
The facility has been upgraded into farmhouses and milking bay, balancing between dairy production, livestock well-being, environmental preservation, and long-term farm sustainability.
The project since take-off has created hundreds of direct and indirect jobs for people of Ikun-Ekiti and surrounding communities.
