MC Oluomo's NURTW loyalists allegedly assault Istijabah, TOOAN members

No fewer than five people, including Alh. Azeez Abiola, a.k.a Istijabah, the newly appointed Caretaker Chairman of Tricycle Owners and Operators Association of Nigeria (TOOAN) of the National Union of Road Transport Workers(NURTW)  were reportedly assaulted and stabbed on Thursday on their way to attend an emergency meeting, summoned by Alh. Musiliu Akinsanya, (MC Oluomo), Lagos State Chairman, the Lagos State Council Secretariat Complex, in Oko-Oba, Agege, Lagos, on Thursday, with all the NURTW branch Chairmen and Zonal Chairmen.

They were allegedly assaulted by some NURTW officials claimed to be working for MC Oluomo upon their arrival to the state council.

This is coming a day after the appointment and confirmation of Alh. Azeez Abiola, a.k.a Istijabah as the Caretaker Chairman of Lagos State TOOAN of NURTW by the National President of the Association on Wednesday.

Earlier at the meeting confirming Istijabah as the Lagos State Caretaker Chairman of TOOAN of NURTW, the national body of the association has urged Alh. Musiliu Akinsanya, (MC Oluomo) and the State Executive Council  to support the emergence of Istijabah in the state.

A source who witnessed that incident told our correspondent that the Alh. Istijabah and his team were attacked by some men loyal to MC Oluomo, adding that those attacked were left in the cold blood before they were later picked by the RRS.

The source identified one of the Istijabah’s TOOAN member who was wounded as Comrade Kazeem Akinbode (Womi), who was around Alh. Azeez before he was hit on his left eye

with dangerous weapon by MC Oluomo’s men, while others including  Taofiq Odewale, a.k.a Omo Iya Agba and Moses Abiodun, a.k.a Orobo were stabbed with dangerous weapons including bottles and cutlasses.

It would be recalled that MC Oluomo following the agreement he had with the National President had on Thursday issued a statement on his verified facebook page urging his members not to recognise Alh. Abiola Azeez, Istijabah, as the Chairman of TOOAN of NURTW in the state.

Efforts to reach MC Oluomo’s spokesperson on the allegation proved abortive as his official lines were not connecting as at the period  of filling this report.
