OREDOLA ADEOLA A Cameroonian group have gathered at the Nigerian Embassy in Washington DC, United State, and calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to release leaders of Cameroonian anglophone separatists who were abducted by Nigeria’s intelligence agency. The placards displayed at the embassy read: "Abducted in Nigeria, Ambazonians deserve the right to freedom, Let our President go. They urged President Buhari to prevail on the security agents who invaded Neras Hotel in Abuja on Friday, January 5, 2018 to release the separatist leaders. Recall that the unrest by the separatists movement in Cameroon began in November 2016, when English-speaking teachers and lawyers in the Northwest and Southwest regions took to the streets, calling for reforms and greater autonomy. OREDOLA ADEOLA The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God was in Benue State on Friday to sympathise with the people of the state over recent attacks by the Fulani herdsmen. He arrived in company of his wife, Pastor (Mrs) Folu Adeboye, to the state capital, Makurdi and were received by Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state. Addressing people at the state house, Pastor Adeboye disclosed that his visit to the state was delayed because God had earlier warned him not to go ahead of  President Muhammadu Buhari's visit to the state. He confirmed that his visit was approved by President Buhari through the office of the Chief of Defence Staff. He and his wife sympathised and prayed for the state and families of victims who were killed during the attack . A flight attendant who fell from the emergency door of a parked aeroplane in Uganda's Entebbe airport has died, after she was rushed to Kisubi hospital 16km (10 miles) away. This was disclosed by the spokesperson of the Airport. Flight EK729 arrived in Entebbe about 2pm local time and was scheduled to head back to Dubai at 3.25pm, with passengers preparing to board. The Editorials gathered that the sad incident happened on Wednesday, when the Emirates Airline hostess was preparing the flight for boarding. However the Uganda's aviation authorities say they have launched an investigation, while efforts is being made to ascertain the nationality of the deceased hostess. Preliminary investigation carried out by the aviation authorities shows that the flight attendant "appeared to have opened the emergency door" and unfortunately "fell off an aircraft that had safely landed and parked". OREDOLA ADEOLA The leadership of National Association Of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) has issued a statement cautioning Governor Akinwunmi Ambode over the review and discount offered to property owners under the new Land Use Charge. This was contained in a statement signed by Comrade Olasunkanmi Ijaduoye, NAPS Public Relations Officer, which was made available to this newspaper. The association which has over 30.1 million students, and the second largest students movement in the country, in the statement frowned at the newly imposed and petty reduction of land use charge and other tax review in Lagos state. Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello stated this through a statement released by Mr. Kingsley Fanwo, Director-General, Media and Publicity, to the Governor of  Kogi State. Recall that there was a report in the news earlier in the day that men suspected to be Fulani herdsmen unleashed terror on three communities in Kogi State , leaving 25 people dead. The President was conducted round the facilities of plant by Niger State Governor Abubakar Sani Bello, Kebbi State Governor Atiku Bagudu, and Chairman Flour Mills Nigeria John G. Coumantaros. While commissioning the project on Thursday, President Buhari disclosed that the Sunti Golden Sugar Estate was timely as Nigeria makes her journey out of recession and the economy continues to show considerable progress. OREDOLA ADEOLA Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, has agreed to reduce the controversial Land Use Charge to 50 percent for Commercial Charges, 25 percent for Owner-Occupier with third party including industries and manufacturing concerns. The Governor's decision was communicated at a press briefing held at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre in Alausa, Ikeja Lagos. The press briefing was led by Lagos State Commissioner for Finance , Mr.Akinyemi Ashade  and the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Adeniji Kazeem. It was also attended by Executive Council members and top government functionaries. Mr Ashade disclosed that the decision to reduce the rates was taken at the weekly Council Meeting held on Wednesday and Chaired by the State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode.
