Anthony Joshua knocks Alexander Povetkin out in round 7 in defense of unified heavyweight title

Ambode launches Operation fix Lagos Potholes

Oredola Adeola , Lagos The Lagos State Governor Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode,  has launched operation fix Lagos potholes which would last for about four weeks. The Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Mr Ade Akinsanya, said this on Friday, during an inspection of the ongoing Pen Cinema bridge in Agege area of the state. Akinsanya who was speaking on behalf of Governor Ambode directed the state Public Works Corporation to fix potholes on major and inner roads across the state within the next four weeks. According to him, the repairs would bring relief and succour to the generality of the residents. He said that due to the torrential rainfall witnessed in the last few weeks, repair works on many roads in the state were suspended. The commissioner, however, said that with the rains subsiding, there was need to intensify efforts in completing ongoing repair works and making roads better across the state. “The operation fix the pothole will last for about three to four weeks,

Court remands teacher for defiling Down Syndrome Foundation’s student

The Nigerian Police authority has arrested one Wasiu Kabiru, a teacher working with the Down Syndrome Foundation on Adegoke Street , Masha Road , Surulere, Lagos, for allegedly defiling a 17- year- old teenager in the Surulere area of Lagos. The victim is a student at the Down Syndrome Foundation , Surulere, where Kabiru was a class teacher. He allegedly had sex with her in the school toilet. The suspect was arraigned before  Mr. P .E . Nwaka ,Magistrate at Ogba Magistrates’ Court on two counts of defilement . The charges read in part “ That you , Wasiu Kabiru , between June and August 2018, being a class teacher at Magisterial District, did unlawfully had carnal knowledge of the victim, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 216 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State Nigeria 2015. ” Testifying before the Magistrate, the victim said , “ One day, I was inside the toilet when Brother Kabiru came to meet me and he used his eyes to tell me to keep quiet. FG suspends Nigeria Air project indefinitely

The Federal Government has indefinately suspended the proposed national carrier, Nigeria Air, procurement, claiming  “strategic reasons” Hadi Sirika, Minister of State Aviation, told reporters on Wednesday that the Federal Government suspended the procurement of Nigeria Air at the Federal Executive Council meeting. Recall that the Minister  had on July 18, 2018, unveiled the name and logo of the airline named “Nigeria Air” at the Farnborough Air Show in London, United Kingdom. He further informed Nigerians then, that the airline would begin operation in December, 2018, with an initial capital of 300 million dollars, stating that the airline would be private sector driven with government controlling only 10 per cent of the equity. Details of the  “strategic reasons” for the cancellation of the project, was however not disclosed. NANS bans SUGs from conferring awards on individuals, groups, organisations

The National Association of Nigerian Students ( NANS) has banned confinement of awards by students’ union on groups, individuals, and organisations. This was the directive given by Comrade Danielson Bamidele, which was obtained by this newspaper through his media office. The NANS President explained that such award conferment on organisations, groups and individuals had become a source of distraction for students, adding that the apex student body will reform all student unions towards improving the education system and welfare of members. Danielson however vowed to live up to expectations of students by keeping his campaign promises including stopping the oppression and intimidation of students by school management and the government, as well as attracting local and international training for members.
