Post #EndSARS protest: Police authorities promote 82,779 junior officers

Oredola Adeola|  ....as officers killed by #EndSARS rioters gets posthumous promotion  As part of  efforts at boosting the morale of personnel and repositioning the Force for greater efficiency, the aInspector-General of Police, IGP, on Monday 23rd November, 2020 approved the promotion of Eighty-Two Thousand, Seven Hundred and Seventy Nine (82,779) Junior Police Officers to their next ranks.  This was contained in statement obtained by The Editorial  through  DCP Frank MBA,  Force Public Relations Officer.  The promotion of the officers comprise of 56,779 Sergeants to Inspector, 17,569 Corporal to Sergeants and 8,431 Constables to Corporal. Those promoted also include 86 junior officers negatively impacted by the ENDSARS riots – 16 got special posthumous promotion while 70 others injured during the violence arising from the ENDSARS protests were equally specially promoted. Canteen owner who cooks with Mortuary arrested

A canteen owner, Mrs Gloria Edet a.k.a.Madam Honey Food, who cooks with "Mortuary Water" to attract customers in Akwa Ibom State, has been arrested by the Police.  The owner of the restaurant located in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State was arrested for selling to the public food prepared with water used in bathing corpses. She was arrested on Wednesday after she was exposed by a mortuary attendant who claimed she was owing him money for three months. The morgue attendant further claimed that Edet visits him daily to buy the water he used in bathing corpses. On interrogation,Edet confessed that she uses the water she buys from the mortuary to make the charms she uses in preparing the food she sells to attract more customers and make more money. She said because of the charms anyone that goes into her restaurant to eat will automatically be addicted to eating her food. The woman is reportedly at the police headquarters,Ikot Akpanabia, Uyo.

Popular Celestial Prophet, Israel Genesis bags two years jail term over fraud

A Lagos State High Court has sentenced popular prophet and Shepherd-in-charge of Celestial Church of Christ Global Genesis Parish, Israel Oladele Ogundipe aka Israel Genesis, to two years imprisonment for defrauding a United Kingdom-based woman, Mrs Olaide Williams-Oni. Ogundipe, who has been on trial since 2011, was charged with seven counts of obtaining by stealing, inducing delivery of money by false pretences, unlawful conversion of property and forgery. In her testimony, Williams-Oni had told the court that she met the prophet in 2002 during her visit to Nigeria when she was taken to his church for prayers by her step-sister. Justice Akinlade, in a judgment that lasted for about four hours, sentenced the defendant, Prophet Oladele, to a year imprisonment on count two and four. The presiding judge, Justice Olabisi Akinlade found the clergyman guilty of two of the seven charges brought against him and dismissed the remaining five over lack of evidence. Delta State Governor, Okowa protests against Zamfara's control of Gold, as S-South Governor question FG over 13% derivative

GOVERNOR of Delta State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, has challenged Zamfara State Government's control and management of gold deposits in the state, adding that no law of the country permits such.  According to Governor Okowa,  the governors of South-South region will soon take up the matter with the Federal Government.
