Agbado/Oke-Odo mourns again, as Council Manager dies

Barrister (Mrs) Olapeju Akin-Ajayi,Council Manager of Agbado Oke-Odo LCDA passed on at the early hours of the day.  This happened four months after the unfortunate demise of the Executive Chairman, Dr. Augustine Arogundade and the Secretary to the Local Government (SLG), Alhaja Tawakalitu Abiodun Ayilara who both died at different  occasions after a brief illness. The news of the death was announced by the Council's Public Affairs Unit. The Statement said, "Our council manager Barrister Mrs Olapeju Akin - Ajayi passed on today 24/10/2020 after a brief illness .. 

#EndSARS: Sanwoolu constitutes judicial panels over Lekki/Tollgate massacre, creates two slots for youth

Oredola Adeola | The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwoolu has challenged  the Nigerian Youth to provide two representatives to join the judicial panel and  investigative panels which will soon be constituted to probe the shooting of protesters at the Lekki Tollgate, promising that all proceedings will be transparent. He made this call on Thursday, while apologizing to the families for the unfortunate loss of lives and properties during and after the protest.  According to him, the Government mourn the lives that were sadly lost across the state. To the families that we could have better protected, I sincerely apologise. He also mourned the police and law enforcement that lost members, noting that every life is important to the government. #EndSARS riot: Hoodlums break into Lagos Covid-19 palliative warehouse in Mazamasa

Oredola Adeola | Hoodlums and aggrieved  residents  of Festac Town/Mazamaza area of Lagos State have ransacked one of central warehouses managed by the state housing COVID-19 palliatives, handed over to the state government on September 22, 2020 by the Federal  Government. The Editorials gathered that the foods stored in the warehouse are supposed to be distributed to the poor masses.The hoodlums reportedly ransacked the store and made away with  these palliatives. Some of the food items include Noodles, Rice, Semovita, Garrison others.  Reacting to the ransack of the stores the Permanent  Secretary of the Lagos Government Ministry of Agriculture, confirmed that the state's  central warehouses in the mazamaza area of Lagos was ransacked on Thursday. Lagos sets to relax 24hrs curfew

Oredola  Adeola| The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwoolu has indicated plan to relax the 24hours curfew  imposed to address tension generated during the #EndSARS protest in the state.  The Lagos State Governor made this known while responding  to questions on Morning Show, Arise TV on Thursday over the Lekki Shooting and the aftermath of the destruction on Wednesday, October 21, 2020. According  to him,  In response the curfew could be likely lifted to allow Lagosians re-stock on food and critical household items, promising to ease  it within 24 hours after evaluating the situation on the ground. Sanwoolu  said,  “The Government is looking at easing the lockdown in the state in the next 24 hours, after evaluating the situation on the ground around the state. This is to allow residents to get access to food and other provisions they might be running out of.”

Ooni of Ife, other traditional rulers set to mediate between #EndSARS protesters, FG

Oredola Adeola | The Ooni of Ife,  Ooni Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II,  has revealed plan by the traditional  rulers  in Nigeria to mediate between  #EndSARS protesters and the Federal Government following the alleged massacre  of the protesters by the Nigerian Army on Tuesday at Lekki Tollgate, Lagos State. This was contained in a statement released to the media by Mr. Moses Olafare, Spokesperson to the Ooni's Palace.  According  to him the killing of the unarmed peaceful protesters is highly disheartening and regrettable. While commending the Government  for the decision to protect public facilities, he further condemned the engagement of military on the armless protesting youths.  He said that the deployment of armed military personnel in clearly civil protests ought not to be encouraged until all peaceful avenues have been fully exhausted, adding that such preemptive strikes can only worsen an already combustible situation. Lagos State Police Command bans #EndSARS protest, possession, enforces Govt. 's curfew

The Lagos State Police Command has banned Nigerian  Youth's #EndSARS protest, gathering and possession, following  takeover  of the peaceful protest by hoodlum and reported attack on Police stations and officers across the state.  The Commissioner of Police, in a statement released by SP Olumuyiwa Adejobi,  Force Public Relations Officer, revealed  that the banning of the protests is as a result of violent attacks on Police Officers and men and formations including innocent Nigerians in Lagos State, and the 24-hour curfew imposed by the Lagos State Government with effect from 4pm of today 20th October 2020. Sanwo-Olu imposes 24hrs curfew on Lagos

The Lagos State Governor has declared curfew  on Lagosians as a result of take over of the #EndSARS protests by hoodlums and criminals. In a statement released on Tuesday the Governor said, "I have watched with shock how what began as a peaceful #EndSARS protest has degenerated into a monster that is threatening the well-being of our society.  "Lives and limbs have been lost as criminals and miscreants are now hiding under the umbrella of these protests to unleash mayhem on our State. "As a government that is alive to its responsibility and has shown a commitment to the movement. #ENDSARS , we will not watch and allow anarchy in our dear state. "I, therefore, hereby impose a 24-hour curfew on all parts of the State as from 4pm today, 20th October,2020.Nobody, except essential service providers and first responders must be found on the streets," the Governor declared. 

Sanwoolu orders closure of Lagos public, private schools over #EndSARS protest

Oredola Adeola | The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwoolu has directed all students in public and private schools to stay at home following the tension generated by the #EndSARS protests. This was contained in a statement released by the Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo. Recall that the protest on Monday  took a new dimension  as alleged infiltrators hijacked the what had earlier been described as peaceful protest across the state leading to destruction  of lives and properties.  According to the Commissioner,   the safety of the pupils/students, parents and all staff working in schools is paramount at this critical period, advising parents to keep an eye on their wards and prevent them from being used as tools by those who might want to hijack the protests to unleash mayhem on the society. SWAT begins training on Monday

- as Police partner ICRC, others for Qualitative Training The Nigerian Inspector General,  IGP Mohammad Adamu's new Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) squad established  to replace the notorious police unit Federal Special Anti-robbery squad (FSARS) will commence training on Monday,  October 19, 2020 at the Police Mobile Force (PMF) Training School, Ila Oragun, Osun State and the PMF Training School, Ende Hills, Nasarawa State. This was disclosed by the force spokesman, Frank Mba in a statement released on Sunday. According to him, the NPF is partnering with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and other Development Partners for the training of the new Police Tactical Team that will be operating within very high professional and ethical standards, rule of law and dictates of best international policing practices. Families demand justice as #EndSars protesters' jeep kills 2 tricycle operators, injures one

Families of victims of three who were killed by vehicle conveying some youth who claimed to be #EndSARS protesters around First Apex School Junction,  in Ikola Community, Alagbado,  Lagos State,  have cried out and seeking justice over the death of their sons. Victim of Police brutality in Delta State still alive -Festus Keyamo

Mr. Festus Keyamo,  Minister of State, Labour and Employment,  has revealed that the brother of the alleged victim, Ochuko has confirmed that the victim is not dead and that the operatives of Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, didn’t kill anybody in Ughelli, Delta State. Keyamo made this known in a statement  released on Sunday crediting  information he obtained by the state Police Commissioner, in Ughelli. IGP suspends routine patrols, stop/search duties by FSAR, STS

Following the release of an online video showing an innocent Nigerian who was brutally  assaulted by a police officer in Delta State, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, has suspended operatives of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS), the Special Tactical Squad (STS) and Intelligence Response Team (IRT) from undertaking routine patrols as well as stop and search duties. The statement of the IGP was released to press by Mr. Frank Mba, police spokesman, on Sunday. The video which  went viral  on the social media at the weekend caught the attention of politicians and Nigerian celebrities who lent their voices to the # EndSARS campaign on Twitter. Nigeria @60: Pastor Adeboye charges FG to restructure Nigeria
