Anti-Tinubu's “O to Ge” movement commences in Lagos, as Police disrupt rally

Oredola Adeola A group known as Free Lagos  Orange Movement converged in Lagos on Thursday to kick start the anti-Tinubu's O to Ge” movement. The activists group gathered for its inaugural rally at the Lagos Airport Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, ahead of the March 9, Gubernatorial election. The group that is made up of political activists in the state met at the  Oranmiyan Hall in the hotel to strategize on how to end the Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, a national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) dynasty in Lagos. The activists also planned to stop Asiwaju from foisting Mr.Babajide Sanwo-Olu,  APC's Governorship candidate on the state, condemning  the violence that characterised the February 23 presidential and National Assembly elections in some parts of Lagos State. Celebration of President Muhammadu Buhari’s victory  by supporters of the party in Lagos has led to the death of two person while several others sustained various degree of injuries, as  thugs and hired urchins  reportedly used the occasion to unleash mayhem on the Igbo traders in Ojo, Oshodi and Tinubu areas of the state. President Buhari, VP Osibajo receive return certificates, promise inclusiveness, national unity

Oredola Adeola | The Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission, Professor Yakubu Mahmood has declared President Muhammadu Buhari winner of February 23, 2019 Presidential election at around 4:39 am, Wednesday, 27, 2019, after polling 15,191,847 votes to defeat his closest rival, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, who scored 11,262,978 votes. Lawmakers resume in Tuesday , as Senate President, others fail reelection bid

The members of both chambers of the National Assembly will the resume plenary earlier scheduled on February 26, after a month break. Dino Melaye, Ekweremadu win Senate seats

Senator Dino Melaye and Ike Ekweremadu both of the Peoples Democratic Party, in Kogi West and Enugu West Senatorial Districts have both been declared winner in the Senatorial election held on Feb. 23. A Ranking Member of the House of Representative in the United States Congress, Rep Chris Smith, has charged the Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC) to urgently release the result of the Presidential election which held on Saturday , February 23. Oredola Adeola| Yakubu Dogara the Speaker of the House of Representatives, candidate of PDP, has been declared as Winner of the Tafawa Balewa/Bogoro Federal Constituency election in Bauchi State, with 73,609 votes defeating Mr Dalhatu Kantana, candidate of APC who polled 50,078 votes. 2019 Presidential poll: INEC adjourns collations, announcement of results to Monday

Oredola Adeola | The Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC) has postponed the  collation and announcement of Presidential election that held on Saturday February 23, till 11 am on Monday February 25. Professor Mahmood Yakubu, Chairman of the Commission made this disclosure during the formal opening of the collation centre for the Presidential election at the International Conference Centre Abuja on Sunday. Recall that as at Sunday evening in 2015, the results had started coming from INEC. In his first official address to the party officials, journalists,  local and international observers at the collation centre, Professor Yakubu announced the rules guiding the conduct of elections especially  in the case of announcement of the results. 500 Chadian soldiers enter Nigeria, in support of fight against Boko Haram

More than 500 Chadian soldiers have entered through the Nigerian/Chadian border on the Friday barely few hours into the conduct of the country’s Presidential election, to “ lend a hand ” to the Nigerian army in its efforts to tackle the Boko Haram jihadist group , a Chad army spokesman told AFP. The regional force comprised of troops from Nigeria, Cameroon , Chad and Niger, are still part of the multinational force fighting insurgency in the North East. The soldiers are deployed on join the  combat troops fighting Boko Haram, on Saturday while the election is ongoing. Boko Haram is active mainly in Nigeria, but the group periodically stages raids in neighbouring countries such as Chad , Niger, and Cameroon. Osinbajo donates N1million to ailing comic actor, Baba Suwe

The Vice President Yemi Osinbajo had donated N1million to ailing comic Bollywood actor, Babatunde Omidina, fondly called Baba Suwe. Ogun Police arrest woman found dumping lover’s corpse in bush

The Ogun State Police Command has announced the arrest of one Mrs Aderonke Ayinde, 45, a resident of Asalu Compound , Abeokuta, Ogun State, for allegedly dumping the corpse of her lover, Asimiu Abiodun, in the bush. The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, disclosed this in a statement made available to reporters on Thursday. President Buhari bows to Saudi-led OPEC’s pressure, agrees to cut oil output

Oredola Adeola | President Muhammadu Buhari has finally bowed to pressure by the Saudi Arabia-led Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries, OPEC, Nigeria to cut oil output being part of efforts to eliminate excess supply, caps a turbulent week for OPEC that started with a decision by Qatar to leave the cartel. Nigeria as one of the 14-nation OPEC group and 10 other producer countries are working hard to drain oversupply in the oil market, while Saudi Arabia delivered the biggest cuts. Before now  Nigeria and Iraq have been pumping more than 100,000 bpd above their quotas. The country was exempted from the last round of output curbs and it also overshot its cap by 107,000 in January. Oredola Adeola | The Akwa Ibom State Government has commissioned and inaugurated its own airline, IBOM AIR. The unveiling ceremony held on Wednesday at the Victor Attach International Airport, Uyo, Akwa Ibom.  One of three aircraft landed at Victor Attah International Airport on Tuesday. The three new aircraft have been acquired to kickstart commercial operations within Uyo-Lagos-Abuja routes. FG flays Ghana over deportation of 723 Nigerians in 14 months

Oredola Adeola with agency reports | Following the deportation of about 723 Nigerians living in Ghana for breaching immigration laws  between 2018 and 2019 by the Ghana Immigration Service, the Federal Government through the Nigerian High Commissioner to Ghana, has described the action as barbaric and inhuman. Ambassador Michael Abikoye , Nigerian High Commissioner to Ghana made this known during a meeting between him and the Comptroller - General of the GIS, Kwame Takyi, in Ghana.  News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that the High Commissioner during the meeting said 723 Nigerians were deported on alleged illegal stay , cybercrime and prostitution between January 2018 and January 2019. Nigerian voters to enjoy discounted airfares as Aero Contractor, Arik Air offer promo

Oredola Adeola| Nigerian eligible voters who are willing to travel by air to their polling stations across the country have been offered discounted airfares by Aero Contractors and Arik Air, as part of measures to encourage participation in the rescheduled Presidential election billed for Saturday February 23. These travellers have  been asked to present their Permanent Voters Card(PVC) to enjoy from the promo fares. This announcement was made in separate statements released on Monday, by spokespersons of the two national carriers. The Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) and the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU) have denied the report over alleged killings of 66 Fulani in Kajuru Local Government Area.
